Nutrition Club pioneers Enrique & Graciela

Enrique Varela and Graciela Mier of Zacatecas, Mexico. Not only have they achieved one of the highest levels in the Marketing Plan, but they continue to break qualification records, being the first Distributors to reach our new 70K level

As professors, both Enrique and Graciela have dedicated their lives to helping others. Enrique has served as manager and professor at Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM), and Graciela has taught at a university. But today, they are able to help people everywhere by sharing the opportunities for better wellbeing and financial independence that Herbalife can offer. They have always made support for their organisation a priority, and in doing so, Enrique and Graciela have enjoyed great success with their own business. “We always made a true effort to help our downline achieve their aspirations,” recalls Graciela. “And, in return, they helped us succeed as well.”

Thanks to their vision, Enrique and Graciela found a way to approach a greater number of people in less time and at a lower cost by establishing Herbalife Nutrition Club® services. Their main objective through the clubs was to gain permanent and satisfied customers, while spreading the benefits of an active and healthy lifestyle as well as good nutrition.

And even today, 18 years after getting their Herbalife business off the ground, both Enrique and Graciela maintain the same passion and enthusiasm they had from the start. “Since we started with this business, Graciela and I have never looked back!” exclaims Enrique. “We believe that with Herbalife, the opportunities for success never end.”

Shawn and Nicole Dah New Chairman’s Club members

Shawn Dahl knew early on the results he desired to achieve. How he would get there was the only question. The Canadian settled into the real estate industry at age 21 and recalls, “The money was good, but the lifestyle was a grind.” After five years, Shawn began to develop his vision for his own future. “I was looking at where I wanted to be in five, 10, 20 years,” he says, “and I realised I was going down the wrong path.”

Upon meeting his wife Nicole, Shawn learned about the Herbalife business opportunity from her parents – both President’s Team members – and saw the tremendous potential. For a few years, Shawn’s organisation expanded and contracted many times. “After two years of hard work, I was almost nowhere,” he says, “but I pushed on. I held to the philosophy that the products are the same, the marketing plan is the same, everything’s the same – the only variable is me. If someone else could do it, then so could I.” Shawn emphasises the cornerstones of his business: urgency to get a lot done in a short period of time; momentum to keep it going; and camaraderie for support. “Momentum is the key to success,” Shawn says. “Once you have motivated people, do everything you can to keep them moving fast. Camaraderie keeps the group together and on track.”

In 2002, Shawn and Nicole made simultaneous cuts in both the Millionaire and President’s Team, and since then, they have brought on one new President’s Team diamond each year. They now have eight President’s Team members in total. Shawn and Nicole have 19-monthold twins – a boy and a girl – and feel very blessed in all aspects of life. “We believe our blessings are the result of an attitude of gratefulness and a focus on giving back,” Shawn says. “What makes it all worthwhile is sharing good fortune with family and friends. That’s the whole reason you keep going after you make it to President’s Team. It is so fulfilling bringing up those you care about and watching them move into a life of abundance, so you can enjoy it together.”

Guillermo Luna and Carola Lichtman New Chairman’s Club members

As a struggling medical student in Venezuela, Guillermo knew he wanted to help people, but he also needed to provide for himself. He would stand in line for as long as two hours just to get a free lunch at the university, to enable himself to stay in school and become a physician. Guillermo was first introduced to Herbalife during his summer break in 1992. His sponsor, Alejandro Riviello, introduced him to someone who had a profound influence on his life, Chairman’s Club member Nani Rancel. Hearing Alejandro talk about the business with such enthusiasm convinced Guillermo that this was an opportunity he couldn’t afford to miss. He borrowed the money to buy an International Business Pack (IBP) and jumped right in. Guillermo immediately started to have doubts, though. “I was afraid I couldn’t sell,” he remembers.A turning point came in 1993 when Guillermo scraped together enough money to go to Miami to hear Mark Hughes speak at an event. There, he realised the potential of Herbalife was beyond anything he ever imagined. That’s when Guillermo made a 100% commitment to Herbalife. “I knew then that if they were willing to teach me, I was willing to learn,” he says. Carola was born in a small town in northern Bolivia named Riberalta. Growing up, her home lacked some material goods, but it was filled with plenty of love, dreams and high aspirations. Once she finished high school, Carola decided to study business administration in the city of Santa Cruz de la Tierra. When she was getting ready to graduate with her MBA, she found the opportunity to make her dreams come true with Herbalife, because of a flyer.

Guillermo met Carola at a Herbalife meeting. “We are like a perfect combination,” Guillermo says. “Carola taught me not to work for the money but to work for the people.” Today, Guillermo and Carola reside in Santa Cruz, Bolivia, and enjoy the lifestyle they had always dreamt of. They are also deeply committed to helping others in need, and encourage others to do the same, whether it’s helping children in need, sponsoring a local sports team, or supporting initiatives in their community. “We follow Mark Hughes’ example of giving back to people,” says Carola.

First Distributor to reach the status of Chairman’s Club in the South America market

Fernando ‘Nani’ Rancel believes that being first means paving the way for others. Nani has grown a highly successful business across South and Central America – so successful that Nani was the first Distributor to reach the status of Chairman’s Club in the Spanish-language markets of South America.

Nani continues to use the same strategies he implemented 17 years ago when he began his business. A key attribute to his organisation’s growth is the goal to promote the use of products by his customers. He says, “We focus specific efforts on retailing, recruiting and retention. We always have a good attitude and working together makes an incredible difference to all of us.”

These fundamentals of product usage, recruiting and retention efforts and teamwork are proven building blocks for a successful organisation. The unified South and Central American teams hold four events a year – two royalty-focused and two for basic training – which fuel the retention and growth of their downline in an environment of mutual respect and high ethical standards. “Ten years ago only 30 Supervisors attended; in September, we had an army of Supervisors!” exclaims Nani. Nani’s greatest support is the love of his wife, Judith. She takes care of their five children and manages their Herbalife life. No matter how many personal sacrifices Nani has made or his business, he has made time to be at every special moment in all five children’s lives. To Nani and Judith, Herbalife is a way of life. They feel humbled to now be among the impressive group of Distributors who have achieved the level of Chairman’s Club. Nani and Judith credit teamwork across all organisations for the growth of the business. “We see people developing as leaders and that’s speeding the growth of our region,” says Nani. “And this is only the beginning.
